So we have recently moved. It's been awesome being in our own home again. We were living temporarily in our last place, so we didn't unpack everything, so it was a surprise to come across a few items. One of my best surprises was a poem Paige wrote for me years ago. I have had it on my nightstand since I have unpacked it, but I just today brought myself to read it again. I had already been crying (because I talked to James and that is usually what happens to me), so I figured I might as well read it - and share it.
My Forever Sister
Your friendship beats
Reddest vine-ripened tomatoes
Talking to you forever twice over
is very nice...
Like sticking your feet in the mud
And wiggling your toes.
Sincere clear springs bubble within
when you, Karmen give to me your advice.
To laugh with you tickles my heart
Late at night, in the car
Or in the park while painting our nails
Soft or Loud, laughter resonates
through the air, a directionless arrow.
Along comes a day when dark clouds loom
and laughter is the remedy
for us never fails.
I never recall being without you
It was always you and me.
Two little girls running all over
In the sunniest of days or the wettest of puddles
Never apart; we just fit together
like peanut butter and jelly
It is paigeandkarmen or karmenandpaige
who ceasingly get into muddles
We crawled out our window and shimmied down the siding
as one of our little endeavors
Now we spend nights under stars
laughing, talking, gazing
by candelight as we eat strawberry rhubarb pie
As long as I know you, I'm with you
because you are my sister forever
I love this poem - she continues to me amaze me.
I haven't had many dreams of Paige. I'm not sure what that means, but the other night I had a dream and Jackson had said he saw Ampy Paige. I asked him what she said to him. He said "She didn't say anything, she just gave me a kiss".
Thank you for sharing this Karmen...it is so precious that I almost felt bad reading it. What a special bond you have with Paige.Simply wonderful.
