My sunshine

I met Paige in Genova, Italy, during her mission. I remember that I was waiting in the sister-missionaries apartment, a little shy, a little nervous,very lonely, waiting for my companion to arrive. Hours passed until finally two girls walked into the apartment, anxious to meet me just as much as I was to meet them. Well, as they approached me,Paige had on her face her wonderful bright smile...If I close my eyes I still see that smiley face coming towards me in that dark apartment that up to that moment had felt so lonely to me...In that moment I knew I had found a sweet, friendly person.

She was working hard to improve her Italian and I was struggling to improve my English...well...we loved singing together when we had the chance to do so and she taught me this song, "You are my sunshine". Being Italian I had never known the lyrics before then. I remember thinking that no other song could have been sung in such a cute way by such a fun and smiley girl...Many years have gone by now, but when I hear this song, she remains my sunshine...
