Paige was fearless. She was never afraid to face any challenge and fight any battle. Case in point, on our third date Paige drove her little VW bug all the way from Bozeman to Sun Valley, Idaho so that she could attend my family reunion. I was super excited that she was willing to come but also a little nervous. I wasn't worried that she would do something wrong or anything like that. More that she would think that things were moving to fast that I was trying to show her how awesome my family was and that she would want to be a part of it. Of course, that was my plan. I knew I wanted to marry Paige from before I ever met her, but that is another story. So she came over, brought her bike and she fit right into the family. She was gorgeous, charming, witty, and wonderful. Everyone fell in love with her and I fell even more in love with her.
During this trip we went fishing with my brother Steve. At that time I wasn't much of a fisherman, and some would say that I am still not much of a fisherman. But my brother Steve was and I was so excited to show off my montana girl that was an expert flyfisher-woman. Paige didn't disappoint. She went right out there and caught a couple fish. I, on the other hand, was down the river goofing around and trying to get my line out of the bushes. I didn't catch anything, in part because I wasn't very good, but mostly because I kept looking at Paige. She was amazing. Strong, confident, capable and most of all extremely good looking. I starting thinking to myself, "self, there is no way that a girl this amazing and this attractive is ever going to fall for you. You better figure something out soon before you dork it up!"
Another part of this trip was when part of my family wrote a song for Paige. At the end of my mission some of my family came to pick me up. One of our first nights in Italy together we were having dinner at a ward members house in my last city, Monza, and Paige and her companion stopped by. That was the first time my parents and part of my family met her. When I got home I would refer to her occasionally but my father couldn't remember her name so he started referring to her as Miss Montana. So...when she got to Sun Valley the whole family knew her as Miss Montana and they wrote and preformed a song for her. I was more than a little embarrassed but Paige took all of it in stride, as always. She really was one in a trillion.
Seriously, I don't think there is a more beautiful woman in the world....not offense to any woman that is reading this. I am very biased

OH James... i am not offended at all... i always thought paige was one of the most beautiful women i've ever seen too!!! but, more than anything, i am really curious about this "I knew I wanted to marry Paige from before I ever met her..."
ReplyDeletei want to hear this story very badly!!!
how do you know you want to marry someone you've never met?
Self - thanks for not dorking it up!
ReplyDeleteA blog might not be the right place to share your story, James, but I admit that I too am fascinated by what you wrote about knowing you would have married Paige someday before meeting her...you must have been lead to her...she needed somebody special to help her along her path.
