One Year

We have now had a whole year without Paige,

but i am reminded of her in so many small moments...

and now that christmas is coming i thought i would share this christmas-ish story:

our family draws names for christmas. whoever we draw is the one person we have to buy a present for. i remember one year in particular i drew paige's name. i had to have been six or seven at the time, which meant paige was fifteen or sixteen... anyways, my parents took us to the mall to do some christmas shopping. my goal: to find the perfect gift for paige. i think we had about a $10 limit at the time, but to a seven year old, that could buy you almost anything:) i remember it still, walking into claire's with my mom... we are looking around in in the back corner there is the most beautiful thing i ever saw!!! it was a large diamond-shaped, multi-colored, pearl-filled paperweight!!! of course i didnt know it was a paperweight at the time, but i honestly thought it was BEAUTIFUL, and i KNEW paige was going to love it!!! when my mom and i checked out i remember saying something to her like "oh, paige is so lucky to get a present like this!!!" well... christmas came around and i had this pretty little paperweight wrapped and ready to go, and when paige went to open it, i was sooo excited... OBVIOUSLY paige did not like the paperweight. well, at least as not as much as i thought she was going to like it:) instead, she looked at it and without too much hesitation she gave it right back to me and said that i could have it!!! wow... how nice is she?!?!? it wasnt until a while later that i realized that it really was a dumb gift... anyways, i thought it was funny...
