I will share a secret with you, Paige was the most beautiful woman I ever met. No real shocker right? Of course Paige had an endless amount of non-physical qualities that contributed to her beauty but for now please indulge me as I highlight a few of her physical characteristics...
First, she was a natural beauty. She never needed to wear lots of make-up to look amazing. In fact, the less make-up she had on the more beautiful she looked. Hopefully this isn't too personal but one of my favorite things was to watch Paige sleep. Every night I would look at her, with her perfect face, her long dark hair, all set against the backdrop of a crisp white cotton pillow case, and marvel at her beauty. She is the only person I have ever known that grew more and more beautiful with each passing day.
Second, she had a fantastic sense of style. Paige didn't always follow the latest trends and by doing so she cultivated a style that was all her own. She found clothes and combinations that no one else could find and she always looked fantastic in whatever she had wore. One of my favorite items of clothing that Paige owned was a pair of salmon colored Adidas running shoes. She bought them on our first anniversary at the Adidas store in downtown Seattle and man, did she look good in them. Paige also loved white, button down shirts. Our closet was full of them and it seemed that almost every time I took her shopping she found a new white shirt that was a little different from all the other ones that she had in her closet. Needless to say she was stunning in each and every one of them.
Lastly, she had a look that was unique to her. One of her defining features were the spots on the right side of her face. Oh, how I love and miss those spots. I remember when I first met her in Italy, I asked her what they were. She told me and I thought, wow, what a really cool facial feature and what an amazing person that could be so comfortable in her own skin. Her face was so beautiful and it had it's own special feature built right in. Paige told me a story about a date that she went on once. While she was eating dinner her date thought that she had something on her face. So he reached over and tried to wipe it off. Paige was accommodating and let him try but inside she thought to herself, "is this guy really trying to wipe off my spots? Didn't he notice them when he picked me up?" Paige then said to the guy. "I think those are just part of my face..." Needless to say that guy didn't quite work out for her. In all the craziness near the end I told Paige, "When you get to the other side, don't let them take away your spots! I love them too much!" I am sure that Heavenly Father will grant me that request.

...Her spots are original...such a cute trademark!I remember I always wanted to ask her about them but I feared I could have been too invasive so I never did...The first time I met her I thought they were little crumbs of brownies! As she walked into the apartment she gave me a big bright smile and I remember thinking: " What a fun Sister, she must have a sweet tooth just like me ". I had pictured her having a snack on the way back to the apartment : ) Was she born with them?
ReplyDeleteI have always admired her sense of style! She always looked so put together.
ReplyDeleteyou know, i loved "the spots" and i have to say that i highly favor her very unique spots to a hairy mole or wart. although the warts and moles are also very prominent facial features they are just not nearly as cute:)
ReplyDeleteI always felt responsible for those spots as I had skin problems myself and figured she inherited it from me. Paige never let it bother her once she realized they were her trademark. When she was young, we took her to a doctor that put some salve on the spots and they disappeared for a short time, but came back. She made lemonade out of lemons and considered them her personal beauty marks. I would later ask myself "What spots"?
ReplyDeleteShe was beautiful and I never noticed them, I miss her so much, I still love you Paige...Dad
She is awesome in every way. She has the best style as I hang on to her through her clothes, I know I can't do them justice. They are just a special piece of her I get to carry with me every day.
